NOT TO MISS : EUROPEAN SOCIAL FORUM

Nous avons pu mesurer l’écho international du mouvement "Sauvons la recherche" par le biais des actions des chercheurs français expatriés mais aussi par les articles parus dans différents journaux y compris les journaux scientifiques les plus prestigieux. Il semble que les problèmes rencontrés par la recherche française sont loin d’être spécifiques, comme le témoigne les mouvements en Italie ou encore le lancement de la pétition européenne. La dimension européenne d’une partie des financements comme de la masse salariale est de plus en plus marquée et nécessite une lutte à l’échelle européenne voire internationale.
Une étape pour tenter d’élargir le mouvement sera le FORUM SOCIAL EUROPEEN à Londres du 14 au 17 octobre 2004. Ce sera l’occasion de se relier à d’autres travailleurs de la recherche comme ceux qui sont à l’initiative du site "Science for the people" (cliquer sur l’URL en bas du message) mais aussi aux autres mouvements qui luttent pour une autre Europe, pour un autre monde.

The French research workers have been able to measure the international audience of our movement "Let’s save research" : the actions of French searchers working outside of France but also the various articles published in the international press including the most prestigious scientific reviews are both proofs that we had an impact not only on the shape the research of our own country but on a more global scale. It seems that the issues that emerged of the movement are far from being specific to the French research as we can see with the movements in Italy or the launch of a European petition. The European dimension of the fundings as for the salarial mass imposes us to work for a European if not a global struggle.
One crucial step to try to enlarge the movement will be the EUROPEAN SOCIAL FORUM in London from october the 14th to october the 17th. It will be a privileged moment to relate to other research workers like the one on the initiative of the web site "Science for the people" (click on the URL at the bottom of the message) but also more widely to other movements struggling for another Europe, for another world.
